Deborah L. Benzil, MD, FACS, FAANS

Dr. Deborah Benzil has had an outstanding career in neurosurgery in which she has excelled in both the academic and private practice arenas.  The specialty areas of expertise within neurosurgery for which she is most recognized include socioeconomic issues, education and mentoring, and stereotactic spine radiosurgery.  In all of these arenas she is nationally and internationally recognized as demonstrated by her leadership positions, publications, and honors. 

This work was first recognized with the development and implementation of groundbreaking courses devoted to leadership skills for neurosurgeons.  Subsequently, Dr. Benzil was elected the first female Chair of the Council of State Neurosurgical Societies (CSNS), neurosurgery’s leading socioeconomic organization in clear recognition of her contribution and expertise with these issues.  Throughout, she has frequently collaborated with Dr. Edie Zusman, together sharing their unique insight, which has helped physicians navigate today’s rapidly changing health care economics.

Dr. Benzil can work with doctors and hospital systems to partner for growth and revenue enhancement while improving quality of patient care and physician’s work environment.
